Kings Palace on the gallops this week
There are three meetings today, of course the big one at Cheltenham and then two others at Hexham and Towcester plus a flat card at Wolverhampton. David has nine runners at Cheltenham today, Top Wood, Broadway Buffalo, Dynaste, Ballynagour, Wetak, Our Father, Buddy Bolero, Swing Bill and Problema Tic. I just hope Dynaste comes back to his best form as if he does then you would have to say he is a good thing. The Racing Post have him as 3/1 joint favourite so they are expecting a big run. He is working well at home so fingers crossed. I am looking forward to the World hurdle and seeing Annie Power and Big Bucks. The mare is only six years old and is still on the upgrade. She has been very impressive and unbeaten in all her starts. Big Bucks will need to show his best form but there has been some big talk from jockey Sam Twiston-Davies. He is a very good young jockey with a lot of pressure on his shoulders but it should be a very good race.
In yesterday's action Dell'arca ran a good race to finish fifth in the Coral Cup. He looked like winning a couple of furlongs out. Sire De Grugy was the star of the show and it was fantastic for the entire Moore family. Jamie used to work at Pond House and he is a great jockey and a real cockney! He can talk for England!! I am delighted for him to have his first Cheltenham Festival winner.
They watered the track last night at Cheltenham, lets just hope they have not made the ground too dead. I personally think they should have left the ground alone and it seems like quite a few of the trainers think so to.
Harry Drew & his good luck message!
Our marquee was packed again yesterday and we had a good afternoon. Harry Drew, son of our owner Bryan was so close to winning the jackpot yesterday. What a good young judge he is - he picked the first five winners at the Festival yesterday! There was a sign put up at the course yesterday wishing him luck for the sixth race and he is pictured below it. Everybody had everything crossed for him and he came very close as he picked the second, Katgary who was only beaten 3/4 of lenght. This was after being badly hampered by a faller earlier on in the race. Hard luck Harry but best of luck for today. The helicopter had to land at Staverton airport on the way up due to the thick fog. It burned off to be a lovely afternoon, it looks like being the same again this afternoon! Have a good day everyone and enjoy the action from day three.
