Legacy Gold (n/s) on the gallops
Today we have five meetings, jumps cards at Uttoxeter, Kempton, Fontwell and Newcastle plus a flat card at Wolverhampton. David has four runners in the one race at Kempton, the 2.55pm, Prideofthecastle, Home Run, Bygones Sovereign and Legacy Gold. This is a competive hurdle race as you would expect for the prize money on offer. The is a new iniative by the BHA where only horses balloted out of the Cheltenham Festival this week were eligible to run. There is also a chase on the card with the same conditions so it will be interesting to see how it all goes. Prideofthecastle is in good form and with young Tom Bellamy taking seven pounds off he looks nicely weighted on 11st2lb. Legacy Gold is having her first run in a handicap after winning three novice hurdles and she is in good form with inform Tom Scu in the saddle. David has two runners in the Midlands Grand National at Uttoxeter as well, Goulanes and Junior. Richard Johnson is on board Goulanes while Conor O'Farrell rides Junior. This race has been pretty lucky for the yard, in fact David has won the last few runnings of the race including Big Occasion last year. Again this is a competitive looking race but both horses have small chances.
David had a great Cheltenham with three winners and so did Tom Scu. Tom also finished third in the Gold Cup yesterday on board The Giant Bolster. I can't believe in fact that it is all over for another year although I am feeling quite shattered! It was fantastic to see Dynaste bounce back to form as we knew he is a very good horse and it was great to see him show at on the biggest stage again. It certainly was an eventful final day at The Festival yesterday. Our thoughts and best wishes go out to Ruby Walsh and Daryl Jacob who were quite seriously injured. Ruby will be out of action for about three months with a compund fracture of the humerous while Daryl Daryl got multiple injuries when his horse, Port Melon threw him onto the concrete after crashing into the rails on the way to the start. He broke his leg, knee and elbow and they are going to operate on him this morning. Let's hope all the jockeys make a speedy recovery.
Ruby, however still finished as top jockey with three wins and six places while Tom Scu finished third with three wins and two placed efforts. David was third in the top tranier board with three wins and a place. In all you could say it was a very good Festival for Pond House. It is not long before Aintree and we have just enough time to recover, and by that I mean the horses as well as us!!
My football bets are Everton 2/5, Southampton 8/13, Burnley 8/11 and Leicester at 4/11. I just hope I don't give my Cheltenham winnings back!
