There are three meetings taking place this afternoon - two over the sticks at Exeter and Wetherby as well as an all-weather flat meeting at Southwell. The thing that struck me was that a track like Wetherby can only put up £30,000 in prize money for their seven race card, while Exeter are offering £44,000 for their fixture. I always thought of Wetherby as one of the top tracks...maybe I have it wrong about them? Surprisingly considering there is a local meeting taking place, the stable does not have any runners today.
It would appear that David is taking a strong team to the Grand National meeting at Aintree and the best of them could be Ryanair Chase winner Dynaste who appears likely to take in the Betfred Bowl - as a winner there last term (pictured above), he looks as though conditions will be ideal for him. Success there would certainly make him feel a lot better - David has man flu at the moment which is amazing considering the amount of medicine (lager) he took...how on earth did it get through his defences?!

It's a strange old world...a couple of weeks ago there was water everywhere, tracks were flooded and the going was heavy (if not choppy!). Now you hear of tracks watering like they did for the second two days of the Cheltenham Festival - bizarre!

I see that Hull City football club owner Assem Allam has lost his bid to change their name to Hull Tigers. He has threatened to walk away from the club if the name is not changed. As far as I can see, threats will make very little difference to the FA and he should just grow up!
While we are on the subject of football (and I use the term football loosely!) I am off to see my local club Torquay United play tonight as they take on Bury. Sadly the Gulls are at the bottom of the division and appear to be heading for non-league football - I will tell you how much I enjoyed it tomorrow!
I think I would almost rather be sat at home watching Chelsea take on Galatasaray tonight. The match is shown live on ITV at 7.45pm and Chelsea should be more than capable of winning this Champions League match, while David should just about be fit enough to watch his team!

I find it hard to believe that a 200 tonne Boeing 777 can just disappear. It is now eleven days since the Malaysian Airlines jet went missing. Surely it would need a big runway somewhere if it has landed and someone would have seen or heard it? Worringly the Malaysian Transport Minister has said that there is still a two million square mile area that needs to be searched.
