Happy Birthday to Luke Harvey
Today we have four meetings, two over the sticks at Newcastle and Wetherby and two flat cards at Lingfield and Wolverhampton. David does not have any runners. Yet again another programming blunder I think! Surely both Newcastle and Wetherby are northern tracks so if you are a jumps fan down south today, bad luck! There is a horse running today call Watt Broderick at Wetherby and officially he is 15 pounds well in, ahead of the handicapper. He did run only four days ago at Taunton where he was beaten but he did not get the best of rides that day. He should gain compensation this afternoon or otherwise the owner might as well retire the five year old as the handicapper must have got the rating so wrong! Newcastle watered their track in the week and then had quite a bit of rain yesterday afternoon and now the ground is described as soft with heavy patches. Why don't they just lave the ground alone, what is wrong with good or even quicker ground?!
Our Chief did not seem to handle the ground at Ffos Las yesterday and stopped very quickly in ground where all the runners (except for the winner!) finished very tired. He seems fine this morning though and there will be another day for him.
It is Luke Harvey's birthday today, he is 48. It shows you a bald picture of Luke in the Racing Post today, mind you I can only remember him being bald and always looking a bit older than than he actually his! Luke is a great guy and good presenter on ATR. I really enjoy his show with Jason Weaver on a Friday night, it is very funny. Luke has been to Pond House many times, ridden on the gallops and we very much enjoy having him here. Happy Birthday Luke!
What a win for our cricketers yesterday, they beat Sri Lanka thanks to a brilliant 116 not out by Alex Hales. It was England's highest run chase in Twenty20 cricket and he hit 70 runs from his final 27 balls. At least we now have a chance of getting out of the group!
In the snooker, Ronnie O'Sullivan lost to his ptactice partner Yu Delu in the Players championship. The Rocket said " A little beating can do you good, it will make you knuckkle down". You tell Man Utd what Ronnie said, it did not do me any good at table tennis! Have a nice day.
