David looks to have another nice young horse on his hands in the shape of Molo (pictured above).  The four year old filly won the bumper at Uttoxeter on Saturday in very good style and she looks like another exciting prospect for the yard.  There certainly seems to be a very nice crop of emerging young talent at Pond House and that is great to see.  Meanwhile, at Ascot and the other end of the age scale, Junior finished sixth in the veterans' chase.  He has been a cracking horse down the years winning at Royal Ascot and the Cheltenham Festival and has been paying the price with the handicapper ever since - he looks as though he could still do with a little bit of assistance from the assessor.

There are just three meetings taking place this afternoon, two over the sticks at Plumpton and Hexham and a flat card at Kempton.  The stable has one runner at Plumpton when Count Danilo goes in the 2m5f novices' hurdle at 2.20pm.  He was a most unlucky loser at Haydock last time when he came to grief at the third last hurdle with the race seemingly at his mercy.  He had previously won at Fakenham, form that has been franked in no uncertain terms by runner-up Saffron Wells.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle and another big run is expected.

I was watching the racing from Ascot yesterday and the victory of Raven's Tower certainly brought a few memories flooding back.  Years ago I owned a horse by the same name - he was a bit of a lunatic and managed to get loose in the paddock and nearly mowed down the Queen.  If he had done, I reckon I would still be in the Tower now!

I see that Alistair Lidderdale is 50 today.  Many years ago Alistair was an assistant to Martin.  I still remember him being the typical public schoolboy type - he had his father's overcoat and a pair of binoculars that belonged to Montgomery!  Many happy returns Alistair.

My bet on Liverpool for the Premier League is starting to look not so crazy afterall.  I must confess to have taken a little bit of 8/1 about the Reds and they are now 15/8 second favourites so I am feeling quite smug with myself.  Liverpool beat Spurs 4-0, although Tottenham will not be winning anything.  I hope they don't sack Sherwood - whoever manages Spurs will struggle to win any silverware as they still fall short of the elite 4.

Sadly I did predict that England would struggle to advance from the group stages of the Twenty Twenty Cricket World Cup.  I do hate it when I am right - England now take on Holland to see who will finish bottom of the group - if we lose to them, I guess it will be Double Dutch!
