It looks like being a busy day for the stable with ten runners across all three of the jumps fixtures.  David saddles eight at Taunton: Keep The Cash, Milor de la Borie, Obistar, Party Girls, Great Choice, Saint John Henry, Purple 'N Gold and Mystical Flame, while over at Ludlow he runs Red Seventy and at Towcester, Border Breaker.  It is good to see Purple 'N Gold back after a little break - he did well for the yard last season on the all-weather and over hurdles and could run a decent race from the bottom of the weights.  Border Breaker is another interesting one in Towcester's bumper - this former Irish point-to-point winner wasn't beaten at all far on his debut for the stable and the form has been franked since, a comment that also applies to Great Choice (pictured above) whose point-to-point form looks particularly good following the Grade Two bumper success of Ballybolley at Aintree last week!

As well as the National Hunt meetings there is also a card on the flat today on the all-weather at Kempton - another victory for race planning as far as I am concerned!  It was a blank day on the jumps front yesterday, yet there are three meetings today.  I just don't follow their logic and wonder whether the planning committee even look at what meetings are taking place sometimes - surely it cannot be that difficult to get a bit of balance to the program?

The John Gosden team landed a bit of a touch yesterday when their Sacred Act won at Nottingham.  The colt was backed form 16/1 into 10/1 and duly obliged in the manner of a good thing.  They are not known as a gambling stable, although somebody clearly knew about this one.

Well, I had a run for my money on outsiders Manchester United last night when they took on Bayern Munich in the return leg of the Champions League.  They did go 1-0 up against the German side, although that lead did only last 22 seconds!  The problem with United is their defence - they look very slow and will need to make about half a dozen new signings and unload some of their current players to be competitive at the top level again.

It is the start of the US Masters golf tournament today and I can't wait!  My bets would be Adam Scott at 12/1, Jason Day at 16/1 and Matt Kucher at 22/1.  The course looks absolutely fantastic as always.  A friend of mine once played there as a guest of the legendary Jack Nicklaus and he said that the greens were so quick, it was likely playing on glass.  Anyway, you know where I will be for the next four days!
