There are three meetings taking place this afternoon - a flat card at Musselburgh and two National Hunt fixtures at Plumpton and Towcester. The stable has one runner at Plumpton; Dan Breen who takes his chance in the Sussex Champion Hurdle. Our nine year old (pictured above) is well-treated on old form, the trouble is that he hasn't been in such good form of late. If you could turn the clock back a couple of years to when he was in the frame of top handicaps such as the Ladbroke, he would win this from his present mark...let's hope for a renaissance this afternoon.
If you are thinking of going racing to Plumpton, make sure you check out the seafood stall that belonged to Barrie Cope. I think it still trades under the same name, but the fish they used to sell was absolutely out of this world. It was always Martin's favourite place for food - the smoked salmon and prawns comes very highly recommended.

It is a great day for football fans with some really exciting matches taking place. Everton play Manchester United, Hull take on Arsenal and Norwich face Liverpool. I reckon the Premier League is currently the only division in the world where the bottom teams can determine the outcome of the title. Chelsea had a must win game yesterday, while Arsenal and Liverpool need to win today to keep their title hopes alive. Personally, I hope that Liverpool can win their first title in over twenty years...do you reckon I might have had a few quid on them? A cockney supporting Liverpool - I wonder what my mates in the East-end would be saying?!

I see that Prime Minister David Cameron has been stung by a jellyfish while swimming off Lanzarote. I hope the jellyfish was okay! It can be quite nasty when you sting a Prime Minister...I wonder if it was a Man 'O War?!

Over in America a man by the name of Edward Cocaine faces drug charges in Fort Lauderdale. The judge told the accused that he was 'a dope'...you just couldn't make these stories up!
