       Swimming at Pond House

We opend our doors to the Thoroughbred Breeders Associtaion yesterday and welcomed about 50 members for a tour of the yard and to watch the gallops.  We had a very enjoyable morning, meeting old friends and making many news ones which culminated in lunch down at the local Culm Valley pub.  They witnessed a parade of horses, looked round the yard as well as viewing some horses loose schooling, going on the treadmill and swimming before watching third lot on the gallops.

Today we have five meetings, four on the flat at Warwick, Beverley, Newcastle and Brighton and a jumps card at Perth.  David just has the one runner at Perth, His Excellency.  He has lots of ability but does have is own ideas about the game!  He is dropping down the weights a little and runs today off a mark of 138 and he has won off of this mark in Ireland.  He is 12/1 in the Post and Tom Scu rides him as he steps up in distance to 2m4f.  Problema Tic ran well to finish fourth at Perth yesterday and was not beaten that far really.  This was another step in the right direction and hopefully we can win again of this sort of mark in the future.

Richard Hughes returns to the saddle tomorrow at Sandown.  He has given Ryan Moore a 22 winner head start in the title race.  Richard Hannon does have a lot of horses to supply Hughes with winners but it is a big lead Ryan has built up, he should be a great summer to watch these to brilliant jockeys battle it out.

Real Madrid go to Bayern Munich next week in the second leg of the champions league semi final with just a one goal lead which I think might not be enough.  It should have been 2-0 but Ronaldho missed a sitter, mind you the match was definitely more entertaining than the previous night, Atletico Madrid versus Chelsea!

Football manager Tony Pulis of Crystal Palace has picked up a £1 million pound bonus for keeping the team in the Premier league.  It just shows you how much it is worth to the club to stay in the top flight.  I can't believe none of the big clubs have signed him up as he seems a good manager to me and does a good job wherever he goes.

I think if you slag of referees you should get fined.  It is a hard job being a ref and they do not have TV cameras to look at incidents 20 times before giveing their decision.  I would have thrown the book at Mourinho if I was in charge!
