Top Wood on the Gallops
His Excellency ran a good race to finish fourth at Perth yesterday. He was not beaten that far and stayed on all the way to the line. He always seems to run well and consistently without winning! He even looks like he may want a bit further on this evidence so maybe worth a try over three miles. Our two Perth runners arrived home safely during the night and are all fine this morning. There is plenty of racing on today, five meetings. There are two flat cards at Sandown and Doncaster plus jumps cards at Perth, Newton Abbot and Chepstow. David runs Top Wood at Chepstow in what looks like quite an open and competitive handicap hurdle. He is quite consistent having won 5 of his 12 career starts, he has won at the course before and he would have a chance at 15/2 in the Racing Post.
When watching racing it always amazes me when people say their horse is likely to need their first race. I am talking about Telescope who is 6/4 to win a Group 3 at Sandown. it seems to me like the Newmarket gallops are not good enough to get a horse fit first tie out?! The 6/4 will probably get bigger and it will be interesting to see how he gets on.
There is quite a big sale of horses up at Cheltenham racecourse today, starting at 1.30pm. There are approxiamtely 60 top quality lots, mainly Irish and English point to pointers and David went up there to have a look at them yesterday. If anyone might be interested in potentially buyinga horse please register your interest by contacting the office on 01884 840715.
In the football, surely if Ryan Giggs gets Man Utd to win their last few games they should make him the permenant manager?! Giggs has been at the club for so many years he knows all the players he can trust and how it all works at Old Trafford. I would rather have him than some of these other so called super stars that are being mentioned! Time will tell. I also see it is David Moyes birthday today, he is 51 - not really a good week for him so I am not sure he will be celebrating too much!
I see that Wetherby want to have flat racing at the track? I am sure it is all money orientated and who can blame them but I am not sure about the idea.
