Dynaste before his bubble bath!
Top Wood put up a good performance to finish fourth carrying top weight at Chepstow last night. He lead and was only overtaken and beaten narrowly on the run in under Tom Scudamore. David does not have any runners today as unfortuantely No Secrets was balloted out of the Bet365 chase at Sandown. David is still going to the season finale and we are parading Dynaste as part of the day's proceedings. He has been enjoying going out to grass of late and rolling in the mud as you can see from the photo above! He had to have a bath yesterday in preparation for today!
Today there are six meetings, the big jumps card at Sandown plus five flat meetings at Doncaster, Haydock, Leicester, Ripon and Wolverhampton. The 3.50pm Bet365 chase has a maximum field of 20 runners and it looks a very open race. I think that one of the lighter weights will win it. The other star attraction of the day has to be Sire De Grugy running in the Celebration chase. He is looking to win his fifth high class chase on the bounce and it is so lovely for the Gary Moore team to have such a high class horse. I spoke to Jamie Moore up at Aintree and in his broad cockney accent he could not tell me much more how he absolutely loves this horse! They make a great team and fingers crossed they will end their terrific season on a high.
David has had another good season with 90 winners and nearly £1.5 million in prize money and finishing sixth in the traners title. I still think this title should be decided on number of winners trained so Donald McCain would be my idea of Champion trainer with 141 winners yet he is only ninth in the list! AP is Champion jockey again with over 200 winners an what is amazing is his 24% strike rate.form 895 rides. He has the best average in the top 36 jockeys on the list and this is a very impressive stat. Nine jockeys have won over a million pounds in prize money.
I listened to Ryan Giggs' press conference yesterday and you can tell in his voice that he loves Man Utd. It seems that lots of the fans want him as full time manager. He even said he might give himself a new five year playing contract which brought a laugh from all of the press present! I am sure he will get off to a winning start this even as Man Utd take on Norwich. The football looks easy today! Man Utd 2/5, Liverpool 4/6, Arsenal 3/10 and Wigan 1/2. Have an ice day.
