I see that Johnny Murtagh has resigned from his job as number one jockey at Ballydoyle. It must be a real pressure environment as they are now looking for their fourth stable jockey in just six years. Richard Hughes and Ryan Moore are among those names that are being linked with the job, but I have to ask - why on earth would they want to leave the Hannon and Stoute yards? The bookmakers have Irishman Pat Smullen as their 6/4 favourite ahead of former French champion Christophe Soumillon at 5/2, but the interesting candidate is former Ballydoyle number one, Kieren Fallon at 4/1.
Frankie Dettori is rated a 50/1 chance, but I would have thought that should be nearer to 500/1! Why would he leave Godolphin? Frankie has the best job in racing, and I am sure that he doesn't need the money. Johnny Murtagh will be very difficult to replace as he is a world class jockey and always comes across as very sensible in press interviews.
Talking of jockeys, it must be terrible for Ruby Walsh as he faces twelve weeks on the sidelines with a double fracture of his leg. Just imagine watching all of your regular mounts being ridden by different jockeys - to these guys, that must be just as painful as the injury itself. He says that it will allow him an opportunity to spend time with his family - I hope he is a good patient!
I was amused to read about Barry Cash's favourites in today's Post - he says that his favourite holiday destination is Mauritius where he went on honeymoon - he says that it is "so relaxing" - on honeymoon?...am I missing something?!

It has certainly been a miserable start to the day - it has been wet, cold and windy. Nevertheless I braved the elements to bring you the following great pictures of African Broadway, Spanish Cruise, Faasel and Praefectus in action - let's just hope that the weather improves a bit for this afternoon's card at Exeter.
