The stable had two runners over the weekend and they both won with plenty in hand. On Saturday night Taj Badalandabad won another bumper at Ffos Las under a penalty and looks to be another shrewd buy - best of all, there was even a bit of even money available about this former Irish point-to-pointer early doors! He looks a nice hurdler/chaser in the making and will certainly get further in time. Street Entertainer (pictured above) kept the good run going on Sunday with a decisive victory in the handicap hurdle at Fontwell under Conor O'Farrell. This represented a drop in grade and he could be picked out travelling particularly strongly from a long way out. He has been placed from a mark of 134 in Listed company so he could still be competitive next time out if able to build on this performance. I watched the race with his owner, MCP.
There are five meetings taking place this afternoon, four on the level at Carlisle, Redcar, Windsor and Leicester as well as a jumps fixture from Cartmel. Surprisingly it is the National Hunt fixture that has the best prize money up for grabs this Bank Holiday Monday, so well done to everybody at Cartmel. It is a great country track and I would strongly recommend it to anybody who is looking for a quirky track with plenty of atmosphere and charm. the only trouble is that the parking can get extremely tight and the roads around the course can get terribly congested - not so good if you are looking to get a flyer after the last.

There was an exciting Championship play-off match on Saturday as ten man QPR managed to fight their way back into the Premiership. It looks like Harry is going to sign Frank Lampard and Rio Ferdinand...surely they have learned their lesson about signing over-priced old players by now? Afterall, it is how they managed to get into trouble in the first place. If other Premier League sides do not want them, what does that tell you? Big money purchases such as these can only spell trouble for QPR.

I see that England's winning spell has come to an abrupt halt in the cricket. The home side managed to lose by 157 runs to Sri Lanka in their One Day International. That is a truly terrible performance and there is clearly something wrong with the set up in this country...or are we just that bad?!

You cancel your wedding and you get back in the winners' enclosure...so much for matrimonial bliss! Rory McIlroy who has endured a terrible run of form, somehow managed to rediscover his best by winning the BMW PGA tournament at Wentworth at the weekend, coming from seven shots behind the leader. It was McIlroy's first success on home soil, his previous wins coming at Dubai and Hong Kong. He picked up £645,000 for his troubles...that might help take his mind off his previously intended!
