Today we have four meetings, three on the flat at Hamilton, Brighton and Bath plus a jumps card at Stratford this evening.  I see that Brighton and Bath get away with just £27,000 in prize money on offer for their seven races which I think is a pretty poor effort.  David does not have any runners today at Stratford.  I see that AP got an Honorary Doctor of Science at the University of Ulster.  He mad e a great acceptance speech - someone must have written it for him!  He's already got an OBE and he was Sports Personality of the year in 2010 and also in 2013 he was RTE Sports Person of the Year.  All of these accolades were well deserved and he is a great credit to racing.  Mind you, beating MCP's total number of winners seems to be what he really wants to do!

I see Southwell made a few quid yesterday.  The winner of the seller was bought by S Dixon for £10,250.  Hughie Morrison trained the five year old mare and he also owned her.  I think she is one to keep an eye on as I think she can improve, only being five and she can defintely do well in better races than sellers.

The Czechs have three women into the last eight of Wimbledon.  Why doesn't our tennis association see what this country does to produce great talent and be so succesful? They are obviously doing something right.  Andy Murray got through without too many problems but as I said yesterday there are only really four players in the mens game at the moment.  I expect them all to reach the semi-finals.  On form Murray should not really have any problems until at least getting to the semi finals.

In the World Cup both Germany and France got through last night but it was a bit of a struggle for both teams.  Today we have Argentina versus Switzerland and Belgium versus the USA.  The USA have improved and could give Belgium a good game.
