Luke Harvey on a visit to Pond House
Massannie ran well and finished second at Worcester yesterday. There was drama at the second last hurdle when AP on board Flemenson who was clear, fell when going like the winner. It looked a bad fall for both the horse and AP who was also kicked by one of the horses coming behind but the champ being who he is got up and rode the next winner! I did think Aalim had a good chance before the race and you do need a bit of luck in running. He won at 13/2. Massannie was on her best behaviour and ran another solid race off top weight and a mark of 130. There has surely got to be more races in her and it looks like she will jump a fence as well. She has returned safe and well this morning which is the main thing. In the rest of the racing action yesterday a horse called Wakea won a maiden at Kempton by lengths. I would keep an eye on this colt as he looks okay and is sure to win again.
I see someone else agrees with me about the prize money that was on offer at Chepstow last night. Gary brown of Derby said, "can Chepstow really afford to race?". Seven races with prize money of only £25,000 and no race worth more than £2,600 to the winner is an absolute disgrace. I am glad someone agrees with me anyway!
While I was watching Worcester yesterday afternoon I would just like to say Luke Harvey should not be wearing shorts! He has more hair on his legs than he does on his head! His dress style is about as good as his riding style was and that is all you need to know! In all seriousness though, I think Luke is great at his job and very entertaining, he even tipped everyone the winner of the last race so I hope you were all on!
Today we have five metings, four on the flat at Haydock, Yarmouth, Epsom and Newbury plus a jumps card at Perth. David does not have any runners. It is day two of the Arqana Summer Sale at Deauville and David is over in France looking to dd to the Pond House team. I hear David was busy yesterday and managed to buy four unraced youngsters. At the sale today there are more horses in training on offer so I will let you know how he gets on tomorrow!
Andy Muray lost at Wimbledon yesterday. I say lost, he got hammered! World number 13 Grigor Dimitrov beat him 6-1, 7-6, 6-2. This was not the Andy Murray of a year ago. Maybe he is not quite over his injuries?
It is hard being British in the sporting world at the moment. We have been beaten at football, rugby, cricket and now tennis but fear not, did you know we are World Champions at Tiddlywinks! Have a nice day.
