It is a busy day for a Wednesday with no less than five meetings taking place, sadly none of them are over the sticks. The flat action comes from York, Musselburgh, Lingfield, Kempton and Southwell. There is some fantastic action at York this afternoon with the Judmonte featuring dual Derby hero Australia being the rightful feature. With over £1million in prize money up for grabs it makes you wonder why you also need three low grade all-weather cards on the same day? The prize money for the three meetings combined is only £100,000 for their twenty-one races - I bet the tracks are rubbing their hands together at the sight of their bank balances!
Our only runner last evening, Franklin Roosevelt did not give conditional jockey Kieron Edgar an awful lot of help last night en route to the pair finishing third at Worcester. He did not seem to relish the return to the larger obstacles and I wouldn't be surprised to see him turned out again over timber next time.
Meanwhile A P McCoy rode a double on the evening and is now on the 98 winner mark for the season - he now has just over a fortnight to get the last two winners on the board to score his fastest ever century. There is talk of him achieving 300 winners in a season and that looks impossible to me, but who in their right minds would bet against AP?
Many happy returns to Timmy Murphy who reaches the big 4-0 today. Timmy's campaign was marred by injury last season with just eleven winners on the board - it will be good to see this stylish jockey back in action soon.

I hope a few of you followed my advice on the football last night as my little treble came to fruition. After the debacle at the weekend with Manchester United letting me down, at least I can eat for the rest of the week! Fulham are at home to Wolves tonight and at 6/4 I could be tempted to reinvest some of my winnings on Fulham.
Crystal Palace have signed a new manager; Malky Mackay takes over at the helm and the London team are only 13/2 to finish in the top ten of the Premier League. I would want much longer odds than that - I think there are more than ten teams who will finish above them.
Arsenal drew 0-0 with Besiktas last night despite Aaron Ramsey being shown the red card. Surprisingly Arsene Wenger said that the ref managed to get it all wrong, now there's a surprise!

Mrs Barnes threw out the hoover last night...she said it was only collecting dust! Have a nice day...
