It looks like an exciting day of racing ahead with six meetings taking place - four of them are on the level at Sandown, Chester, Beverley and Bath, while there are jump fixtures from Newton Abbot and Market Rasen. Bath are at the bottom of the league again with just £30,000 up for grabs but what about Newton Abbot who have managed to secure prize money of £120,000 for their big meeting today - what a great effort from the Devon track, time and again they put some of the larger tracks to shame and are a great example of how a track should be run. The stable has five runners at Newton Abbot this afternoon; Sinndar's Man, Azza (pictured above), Hawkhill, Massannie, Shotavodka and Houston Dynimo.
Houston Dynimo goes in the big race, the Lord Mildmay Chase (a race David has won twice in the past with the likes of Star of Germany and Shoegazer) and he is the mount of returning jockey Tom Scudamore. What a good claim Houston Dynimo was - I certainly didn't pick up on him when he was well beaten in a Wetherby seller on his penultimate start, yet here he is, already a winner for the stable and with a legitmate chance in this Listed contest. I would say he was £6,000 well spent.
Talking of Tom Scu - even allowing for his little holiday, he has had a fantastic start to the season with 42 winners on the board. That is almost halfway to his seasonal tally of last term (which was a personal best 100) and it is not even the end of August. I am just waiting for Tom's wife Lottie to slate me now for putting the mockers on him...Lottie does like to keep me in my place!
I was watching the racing from Bangor yesterday and overheard commentator James Burn suggest that he wouldn't like to buy a car from champion jockey A P McCoy. I thought I said something along those lines a few days ago...James must keep up to date with David's website!
I see there is a whole page of job vacancies in today's Racing Post - if only I could do 9 stone again! Having said that, I'm not sure why you would have to do that sort of weight to be a box driver...maybe it is just a small lorry?!

Manchester United travel to Burnley this afternoon and that could be a tricky match for United. Promoted teams always seem to start very well and United boss Van Gaal is under pressure already. The game of the day though has to be Everton versus Chelsea - kick off is at 5.30pm and I will be looking forward to that one. My little weekend treble will be on Newcastle at 3/4, Derby at 4/5 and Bury at 4/6...good luck if you are thinking of joining me!
