David has one runner today at Southwell, Franklin Roosevelt in the 4.45pm 3 mile handicap hurdle.  He has won six times and seems to go on any ground.  He didn't run that well iin a chase last time at Worcester but he was a winner over hurdles at Newton Abbot the time before that.  Tom Scu is back on board again today and hopefully he will run okay.  Today there are also three other meetings, all on the flat at Lingfield, Bath and Kempton.

They are talking about how alcohol affects your judgement in betting.  The ony time I can remember drinking before having a big bet was when The Liquidator won at Newbury.  MCP and myself were celebrating before the race was run and we told everyone on TV before the race.  I can still see everyone in the Champagne bar with a bottle in there hand when MCP said it was past the post it's time to celebrate!

I did tell you yesterday morning who would be the wild card picks in the Ryder Cup team.  Luke Donald was the one that missed out as I thought but he is not the player he was a couple of seasons ago.  He has never been the longest of hitters but his short game was always so good and even that seems to have deserted him at the moment.  It is going to be a great Ryder Cup in Scotland.

In the cricket, England were hammered again in 50 overs.  We got 206 runs in our 50 overs while India reached that total in 30 overs!  They should let us bat for 50 overs but let India only have 30 and then it would make it a much fairer game!

It seems to me that the X Factor is more about the judges.  I always thought a competition was about the competitors, how wrong can you be!  Also, has anyone noticed in commercial breaks how many adverts they can squeeze in?  I counted 11 in the Coronation Street break!  Are there more now or is it me just getting older and irritable?!  Have a good day.
