Can Purple win Gold?

David has two runners at Stratford this afternoon, Bathwick Street and Purple N Gold.  Bathwick Street is having his second start over hurdles but will have to improve to win this race with Conor O'Farrell in the saddle.  Purple N Gold never seems to run a bad race but does not always find as much as expected at the business end of the race.  Kieron Edgar rides taking a handy five pounds off which means he only carries 9st 9lb and I am sure he will be thereabouts at the finish again.  Today we have 6 meetings in total on around the country, the jumps card at Stratford plus five flat cards at Haydock, Ascot, Kempton, Thirsk and Wolverhampton.

I was out on the gallops yesteday morning with my camera snapping a few as they went past so I will endeavour to put some snaps on here over the next few days.  It was great to see Dell'arca, last season's Greatwood hurdle winner working upsides Tullyesker Hill.  Three time hurdle winner last season, Vieux Lion Rouge was also in action with Conor O'Farrell on board.  All seem to be looking and working well and we are all very much looking forward to the season ahead.

David and Tom Scu's fishing trip yesterday to the river test went well.  Tom caught 4 brown trout and David caught 2.  I thought it was supposed to be fly fishing!!  I am not sure fly fishing with a float and a maggot on as bait is the correct way to catch them.  They tell me Tesco are doing a deal, 2 for the price of 1!  I hope they weighed in, you know what jockey's are like at weighing in.

The Scoop 6 could reach £3 1/2 million this afternoon and all six races are on Channel 4.  If you can find all six winners you deserve all of that money!  I have only done it once, as part of a syndicate and we went out on the first leg.  I am not saying who organised it but he used to train at Pond House!

Surprise, surprise I sound like Cilla Black but England managed to beat India in a 50 over match, mind you the Indians had already won the series.  It looks like we have got no chance in the 2015 World Cup.  Alistair Cook's captaincy will come under scrutiny once again but who else will captain the team?  It is a bit like Rooney in the football.  Is there anyone better?  I actually think Rooney is lucky to keep his place after his poor show against Norway.

In basketball how can Australia lose to Angola, well they did 91-83.  Now they have been accused of fixing the result.  It means they will now miss the USA until the semi-finals.  It is a shame it is not clear like our sport!  My football bets for today are Torquay 4/6, Eastleigh 8/13 and Southend 17/20.
