This afternoon there are four meetings taking place with three on the flat at Doncaster, Carlisle and Kempton as well as a National Hunt card from Uttoxeter. The stable has no runners today and so for me the highlight is undoubtedly the legends race that takes place at Doncaster at 3.35pm. The line-up seems to be somewhat lacking in star power (there are sixteen former jockeys taking part of which I would consider only four to be legends) - the favourite is Comanchero with former champion Kevin Darley on board and they would appear to be a useful combination in this company. Gerry Supple's brother Willie bids to follow-up last season's success aboard Dana's Present so I'm sure the Pond House faithful will be shouting for him, his mount today is Mixed Message...in the meantime I will let you try to work out my four legends!

I have a nice picture to bring you from the gallops this morning. Above is a photograph of Worcester bumper winner Lady Of Longstone (Gerry Supple) working upsides new recruit Easter Meteor (Oliver Defew) on the gallops, the pair of them going nicely within themselves. Easter Meteor looks a most promising addition to the yard, having boasted some very decent form over fences last term.

Dave Roberts continues to do a great job as A P McCoy's agent. The champion jockey has six rides at Uttoxeter this afternoon and I could quite easily see him riding three winners - he has a 46% strike rate aboard his last 50 rides which is quite incredible. I thought that his nearest pursuer (as he has been for so many years in the past), Richard Johnson would come away with three winners at Perth yesterday but instead he rode two - despite having ridden 53 winners this season, he still trails A P by an amazing 74!
Talking of A P McCoy, I see that the champ has appointed a new management company with expertise in media and broadcast exposure - maybe he wants to commentate on the Arsenal games?!

I see that British (or should that be Scottish?) number one tennis player Andy Murray has dropped out of the top ten in the rankings. He needs to win one of the remaining two tournaments to regain his position within the world's elite. The big question we should be asking is why can't we produce more world class players in mens or womens tennis? Huge amounts of money have been poured into the sport, so surely it must be a case of the coaching staff not being up to scratch?

Wales were "baled out" last night with their talisman Gareth Bale scoring twice to beat Andorra 2-1 in the European Cup Qualifiers. Meanwhile I thought that the Czech Republic produced a good result to beat Holland 2-1. Iceland also did well to beat Turkey 3-0, I wonder how on earth a Supermarket chain manages to beat a country?! Maybe the Turkeys are going to finish up in Iceland?!
