Today there are just two meetings taking place on these shores with one flat fixture from Goodwood and a jumps card from Ffos Las - the stable does not have any runners.  Meanwhile over in Ireland there is an excellent flat card at the Curragh featuring the Irish Cesarewitch with four British trainers trying to plunder the prize.  I would be very surprised if one of the home team did not have something lined up for this valuable handicap.  Talking of globe trotters I see that Darryll Holland is riding in Shanghai today - it is on live television but being seven hours ahead I wonder how many people will actually be watching?

I see that former flat champion jockey Kieren Fallon is on the cold jockeys' list.  It has been 23 days and 34 rides since he last rode a winner.  Furthermore, I wonder if anyone will be brave enough to mention it to him?!

I will be going to a different kind of racing tonight when I visit Torquay Golf Club for Lucy's (my son Lester's girlfriend) 30th birthday party.  They are hosting an evening of pig racing and if you have never seen it, it is well worth a visit.  It is great fun and the compere is out of this world.  You need to know your bacon to pick out a winner!  Sorry for that rasher statement...

Onto football and England take on Estonia and we are 1/4 chances to win again.  Rooney will probably get on the score sheet again but how can you possibly compare his goal total to the likes of Jimmy Greaves - Greavsey played in half as many games and it isn't difficult to decide who I would rather have had in my fantasy side.

Someone once said to me that the difference between rugby and football is that football is played by people who pretend to be injured, while rugby is played by people who pretend to be fit!  I think that sums things up quite nicely.

Finally, a thought for the day for David's office staff: I always arrive late, but I make up for it by leaving early!  Have a nice day...
