On the Gallops
It is like after the Lord Mayor Show. Today we have just two meetings at Bath and Kempton where the ground is good to soft at both courses. I can remember when we used to run on hard ground at Bath but you don't hear of that these days. David has just the one runner at Kempton this afternoon, Stars Over the Sea in the opening race on the card the juvenile hurdle. He is a decent flat performer and I watched him school earlier in the week and he jumped well. It is an eight runner race and only one horse has any jumping experience but there are some promising flat recruits so it showed be an interesting race. Tom Scu rides.
It is the Moorcroft charity lunch at Plumpton tomorrow and it is also the Shetland Pony Gold Cup. This should be great to watch but I just wonder how the kids get time off school?! When I was at school I never bunked off!
In the golf if you get a hole in one at the World Match Play Championships you can win what every house needs - a bulldozer! Mind you it is worth £50,000!
In the football I think Neil Lennon has taken on a real hard job in taking over as manager of Bolton. Winning cups and taking titles at Celtic would have been a lot easier! Bolton are bottom of the Championship and don't have a lot of confidence or money. If he keeps them up her will deserve a job in the Premiership. I bet Nat Lofthouse is turning in his grave.
I have been watching Strictly Come Dancing. The standard has really improved over the years. The one that has surprised me is Jake Wood who plays Max branning in Eastenders. He looks like a lump of wood in the soap but looks a better dancer than actor!
