Today we have two meetings over the sticks at Carlisle and Huntingdon.  The stable has two runners; Street Entertainer at Huntingdon and Obistar at Carlisle.  I have never been to Carlisle, but you may know that it is one of the stiffest finishes in the country.  Tom Scu is aboard Obistar, while Conor O'Farrell is aboard Street Entertainer who won a seller at Stratford a couple of days ago.  This looks to be a better race, although he is still a classy individual in this company.  Conor has also picked up a ride for Mick Channon aboard Stoneham who makes his hurdling debut - it is good to see our jockeys picking up a few spare rides.

Looking at the Carlisle card, they should be congratulated on putting on such good prize money.  There are three races worth over £20,000 and they deserve great credit for this - let's hope they are rewarded with a big crowd.

I see that Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has said that he wants to keep managing until 2034 (that's another twenty years!) - that has to be good news for football and even better for the press!  He is always good for a quote and a top class manager.

Tonight they have the United States Grand Prix from Austin in Texas from 8pm - it seems to me everyday there are teams pulling out.  The cost of running one of these teams is millions of pounds so you need big sponsors and it would be no surpise if we soon have races with just a few cars taking part.  I know where they can get a couple of cars from - golfer Danielle Kang had two holes in one in Taiwan this week and was rewarded with a new car for each!

People say there are no jobs about, but there was a whole page of them in yesterday's Racing Post advertising for full-time work riders and there was even an ad for an apprentice jockey - if only I was a bit younger, about 4 stone lighter and a lot braver!  I would have made a good box driver...I would have said jockey but while I might be daft, I am not that daft!
