It was another good day for the yard yesterday with a double at Chepstow courtesy of Taj Badalandabad (pictured above) and Smiles For Miles (pictured below) taking us on to 54 winners for the season. Both Taj and Smiles For Miles won nicely and appeared to relish the testing ground - Scu had to sit tight when the latter made his sole mistake but he still won with plenty in hand, I wonder what Mr Nasty will do to our six year old?! Tom Scudamore was aboard them both and he has now notched 75 winners this campaign and is riding as well as I think I have ever seen him. Last year was a breakthrough season for him with 100 winners but he is well on course to significantly better that this time around.
Today we have four meetings to look forward to with three jumps cards from Ascot, Haydock and Ffos Las as well as a flat meeting on the all-weather from Wolverhampton. The stable has one runner at Ffos Las; Courtlands Prince who takes in the closing bumper at 4.00pm. He has had one start to date when finishing a decent fourth in a big field at Exeter on good ground. There are a few promising types in opposition and the going today will be completely different - let's hope he can run well under Conor O'Farrell.
I was impressed to see the new initiative from Musselburgh racecourse to try to attract some runners to their chases next week. They are offering £500 appearance money for owners who have runnres in their two chases next Friday. It is great to see that the owners are being helped a bit.

Surprise, surprise....I sound like Cilla Black. Roger Federer is fit to play in the Davis Cup Final against France today. I would love to have some of the ointment that he has been using on his bad back!

It is almost unheard of...a selfless act from a professional footballer! Birmingham midfielder Guy Moussi has told the club that he will play for nothing by giving his wages to charity after signing a two month deal. It's a shame there aren't a few more individuals who would follow his lead.

I have always enjoyed watching comedian Lee Evans ply his trade and I was particularly amused by his observations about jockeys. Who are they? Three foot high hobbits in a pimps outfit! I have cleaned it up a bit since the days I used to tell that one while working at Pontins with his dad Dave.
