Ya Know Yaseff Winner at Newton Abbot
The last week has absolutely flown by! All three runners last Monday ran well and it was great to get a second win from Ya Know Yaseff at Newton Abbot. She followed up her win at Worcester over fences with a battling performance under our conditional Gearoid Harney. This was Gearoid’s first win as a conditional jockey and his first since returning from injury so it was a special day for him. Ya Know Yaseff didn’t take up her engagement at Uttoxeter just two days later but is declared to run back at that track on Wednesday this week. Fingers crossed she has a great chance of making it a trio of wins.
On the same afternoon we had Jilaijone running in France at Clairfontaine and he ran a cracker to be second in a 4 year old hurdle ridden by Nathan Howie. He led as they turned from home and even though he was headed after the last be battled back all the way to the line and was only beaten a neck. This was our first trip to France for a while and on this evidence we might be going back again! I do have the four year old hurdle at Chepstow in my mind for this fella next month but another trip to France is a strong possibility. Claimed from France by his owner Saam, he has proven a great buy. He is not very big but he is a fantastic little jumper and really gives his all. Pepsiwithacap also ran well at Newton Abbot last Monday afternoon to be third, she held every chance going to the last flight of hurdles but met that a bit wrong and it ultimately cost her all chance. She may head back to Newton Abbot again this coming Friday.
In other action last week, two racing club runners, Ben Lilly and Only Fools both ran well to be third in their respective races. There was no jumping over the past weekend and this week after Ya Know Yaseff running at Uttoxeter on Wednesday are only other runners will be at Newton Abbot on Friday. At the weekend we have Bashful Boy and Oceanline entered in the Cesarewitch Trial at Newmarket on Saturday. On Sunday we have three entries at Plumpton, Thistlebuffs, Nibras Gold and Myrsitica. Keep checking the Daily News for the latest information.
Torrential Rain
Yesterday we had torrential rain at Pond House and it produced some flooding at Pond House. We had 86mm in a short space of time and in the afternoon even our office was under water and this was the first time I have ever known this! That was as much rainfall as we had had in the entire month of August in just a few hours! Things could have been worse and thankfully despite now power for the morning, this has now been rectified, the cleaning up has been done and things have returned to normal! Outside there was a bit of debris to clear up but the staff have done a great job in tidying things up.
Equine Dentists
Our equine dentists have been here this week and all the horses teeth have had their routine inspection and tidy up done. They visit regularly and it is important to keep everything healthy just like humans. It can affect how they eat and how they behave when you ride them so is an important part of the health and care.

Mum’s Birthday
I would like to take this opportunity to wish my mum a very Happy 80th Birthday for yesterday. We enjoyed a nice meal at Rick Stein’s in Padstow with family and a few close friends and had a lovely evening.
