There is a busy day ahead with no less than six meetings taking place with flat cards from Royal Ascot, Redcar, Newmarket, Wetherby and Ayr as well as a jumps fixture from Market Rasen.  David has one runner at Market Rasen today; Ilovemints who contests the 2m½f handicap hurdle.  She won at Bangor on soft ground and does have some bits and pieces of decent form.  The ground is good but course officials are watering - let's hope that this surface can bring about a little improvement.  Quantum Of Solace looks to be the one to beat.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Royal Ascot, Chelmsford City, Ripon and Lingfield, while over the sticks there is a jumps card from Ffos Las.  David has two runners at Ffos Las; Iniciar and Delface.  Iniciar steps up to three miles for the first time in the handicap hurdle at 8.15pm.  He was fifth at this track last time but is only 1lb lower so the handicapper obviously thinks that he will improve!  Let's hope the longer trip offers some assistance.  Daryl Jacob is in the saddle.  Our other runner, Delface contests the 2m handicap hurdle at 9.15pm.  The five year old is a course and distance winner, although both of his wins have come with plenty of cut in the ground.  If he handles it okay, he looks to have a shout under Tom Scudamore.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with the action coming from Royal Ascot, Hamilton, Chelmsford and Ripon on the level, while there is a jumps fixture from Uttoxeter.  David has one runner today as Skinflint contests the 2m7½f novices' handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter at 5.50pm.  He was runner-up in an Irish point-to-point and has hinted at ability over timber but has yet to reach the frame.  Quite how he has earned top weight of 11-12 I am not quite sure, especially with a couple of previous winners on 10-5 and 10-11 but hopefully the handicapper is right.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Royal Ascot, Thirsk, Beverley and Brighton as well as a jumps card from Stratford.  It is top hat and tails for David as he is off to Royal Ascot with Percy Street who runs in the 2m4f Ascot Stakes at 5.00pm.  Looking through the field, there are no less than eleven jumps trainers who have a runner, while Willie Mullins is mob handed with five runners.  Percy Street is making his debut for the stable this afternoon and is taking a big step up in trip - he was a quality animal on the flat but this is a big ask.  If I had to have a bet I would probably side with Coeur de Lion who looks as though he has further room for improvement with this longer trip.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon, while there is the small matter of England's opening match of their World Cup campaign.  The racing takes place on the level at Carlisle, Ayr, Nottingham and Windsor so if you are a fan of the jumps you are out of luck.  There was a thrilling finish to the charity flat race at York on Saturday with a dead-heat between Sarah Fanning and Chris Brownlese.  The big winner on the day though was Macmillan who raised nearly £½million which has to be considered a great result for a fantastic cause.

Percy Street - Royal Ascot Runner

There are just two flat cards today at Doncaster and Salisbury and it looks like everything is just building towards Royal Ascot which starts on Tuesday.  In my opinion it is the best week in the flat racing calendar.  I have been to Royal Ascot a few times.  Pond House has had quite a few Royal Ascot winners over the years.  David had Junior win the Ascot Stakes most recently and Percy Street will be the stable representative in the race on Tuesday with Oisin Murphy in the saddle.  My only problem with Royal Ascot is that half of the people there never actually see any of the racing!  They seem to be there to be seen in the champagne bar and restaurants.  It is still a fantastic occasion with all the top horses and jockeys and I am very much looking forward to the week.

Today we have seven meetings.  Flat cards at York, Sandown, Chester, Bath and Leicester plus jumps cards at Hexham and Fontwell.  David has one runner at Fontwell, Purple N Gold in the 6.25pm handicap chase over 2m2f.  There are only four runners but it is a very open looking race.  The favourite is 15/8 and we are the outsider of the field at 4/1.  He won this race last year, is well handicapped on old form and will love the ground.  He should be bang there at the finish with David Noonan on board.
