David looks to have uncovered another nice prospect after Chic Theatre won the concluding bumper at Plumpton yesterday afternoon by a comfortable ten lengths.  He has come on a bundle since his debut effort at Newbury and while the less testing ground may well have been a contributory factor, it is amazing what a run under their belts can do for these young horses.  Meanwhile Twentytwo's Taken finished runner-up when trying to concede 17lbs to the winner and Great Choice finished a close third, also giving weight away to his rivals.  The success of Chic Theatre took our seasonal total onto 90, equalling last season's figure with some ten weeks left of the season, so the horses clearly remain in good form.

It was also a good day yesterday for one of our conditional jockeys, Kieron Edgar.  I thought that Kieron gave his mount Catching Time a well-judged ride to land the conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle for trainer Laura Hurley.  With ten winners this season, Kieron is only two shy of his best ever total.

Today we have three meetings to look forward to with jumps cards from Ffos Las and Ayr and an all-weather flat card from Southwell - the only English fixture of the day!  The A P McCoy farewell tour moves on to Ayr this afternoon and the champ looks to have a good chance aboard Top Of The Glas - I would imagine his presence at the meeting will put a lot more paying customers through the gates.  The public and punters alike love A P as he could always be relied upon to get the best out of every horse, while he never refused an autograph or picture for anyone.

Does anybody know what is going on at Leicester?  Is he going or is he staying?  I am talking about manager Nigel Pearson - it looks as though one of the board has sacked him, while another member has taken him back on again.  When things get to that point he will probably lose his job regardless.

While we are on the subject of football, how can a twenty year old moan that he is only on £95,000 per week?  With his contract set to expire at the end of next season, it seems obvious that Raheem wants more Sterling!  He will probably get it from another club as his agent will hold his current club to ransom.  Talking of contracts, Manchester United must give goalkeeper David De Gea a new contract he is their best player by a country mile - without him they would be in the bottom six.

I see that a blue and white Chinese vase and pot valued at £80 by experts sold for £200,000 in Scotland...talk about a nice little urn-er!
