Four Meetings Today

Today we have four meetings taking place with two jumps cards from Chepstow and Musselburgh (still no jumping in England!) as well as all-weather flat fixtures from Lingfield and Wolverhampton.  The A P McCoy Roadshow moves on to Chepstow today where the living legend has three rides so if you are in the area, do try to go along and see the man in action while you still can.  The stable has no runners today.

In my younger days I used to spend plenty of time down at my local greyhound track, Walthamstow.  It was always a good night out and excellent value - you could have a meal and bet from your table in the stands.  I see that Swindon hosts a dog meeting this evening and their twelve race card starts at 6.28pm.  I have been given some tips by someone who should know what they are talking about: Likeitalot (7.01pm), Sidarian Blitz (8.19pm), Jet Stream Lilly (7.48pm) and West City Star (8.52pm) - I will have to tune in to see just how good a judge he is!

I can barely believe that Mario Balotelli scored the winning goal for Liverpool last night as they beat Spurs 3-2.  It was his first league goal for Liverpool and he must be one of the worst signings they have ever made.  Meanwhile Aston Villa dropped into the bottom three and the fans are ganging up on manager Paul Lambert who seems very relaxed about it all.  I wonder how long it will be before the chairman of the club mixes things up a bit?

George North is set to be named by Wales to face Scotland this weekend in the Six Nations Rugby.  He has a concussion after banging his head against team mate Richard Hibbard during Friday's loss to England.  It is bad enough when one of your opponents does it, but to be knocked out by a member of your own team!  I wonder if they are talking?!

Apparently Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton is yet to sign a new contract with Mercedes.  Team boss Toto Wolff says that he doesn't want to put any added pressure on Lewis (I guess he is saying this because with such a dominant car he can sign just about anyone he wants) - I would have thought with a name like that he could end up eating him for breakfast!

A final thought for the day, I haven't spoken to my wife in eighteen months - I didn't want to interrupt her!  The old ones are the best, have a nice day...
