Following the abandonment of Fontwell due to waterlogging we are left with just three meetings afternoon - a jumps card from Catterick and two all-weather flat fixtures from Lingfield and Kempton. The stable has no runners this afternoon and unbelievably Tom Scu has decided to give his car a rest as he hasn't picked up any spare rides at Catterick. Instead, he has joined us this morning and will be riding a few out and helping with the schooling. There is excellent news if you are a fan of the all-weather, you can go to Lingfield in the afternoon and then rush down the road to go to Kempton - great race planning!
We had one runner yesterday, Great Choice who finished third at Exeter. He was a well-backed 5/4 favourite but did not seem to quite get home over this 2m7 1/2f trip on heavy ground. The race was run in a time 46 seconds slower than standard so that tells you how bad the ground was. Tom Scu was on the mark however when he booted home a winner for Rebecca Curtis taking his tally for the season to an amazing 125, a massive personal best.
I was down the gallops yesterday morning and managed to get some great pictures to share with you. Above you can see Pertemps Hurdle hope Knight Of Noir (pictured nearside under Craig Wylie) working in company with Imperial Cup favourite Bidourey (Tom Greatrex). They both went nicely as they continued their build up to their big engagements.
It was great to see broadcaster Mike Vince at Pond House yesterday. Mike, who has been a long standing supporter of the team was granted exclusive access to Pond House to conduct some interviews with the team prior to next week's Cheltenham Festival and while he was here he kindly consented to ask the questions in a series of video interviews that we will be showing only at www.davidpipe.com in the run-up to the Festival. The first installment featuring conditional jockey Michael Heard and his intended Pertemps Hurdle mount Bygones Sovereign can be seen below from shortly after 9am and further videos will follow in the coming days...we hope you like them!

For those of you looking for a bit of fun over the Cheltenham Festival without it costing you a fortune (or even a penny in this case!), you could do worse than have a crack at OLBG's free to enter tipping competition. OLBG are great supporters of racing and sponsor the mares' race at the Festival as well as a whole host of other mares' races through the course of the season. With £1,000 of prizes up for grabs it is certainly worth a go - details can be found at: http://cheltenham.olbg.com/comp/

There was a great result last night for Aston Villa as they scored a penalty in the 90th minute to beat West Brom 2-1. The three points has lifted them out of the bottom three...for now. It looks like QPR, Burnley and Leicester could be for the drop.
There is plenty of Premier League action to look forward to tonight and it looks far too easy as all of the good things should oblige. Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea should all emerge victorious so I might chance a cheeky acca!

Did you know that lady snooker player Reanne Evans is just three wins away from claiming a spot in the World Snooker Championships at The Crucible? Evans has already made history by becoming the first lady to reach the final stages of a ranking tournament - something she achieved last season in China. It would certainly be good for the profile of the sport if she could make it to Sheffield. I wonder what Joe Davis would have thought?

If you have an insurance policy that needs renewing in the near future, my advice to you is to shop around. I used to insure my home with Home Serve but was appalled when they put my premium up by £70. When I phoned them to tell them I was moving, they immediately dropped the price by £70...funny that! I left anyway - these firms will certainly try it on if you let them. I am now sorting out the mother-in-law's insurance and have already found two quotes cheaper.

Finally, I see that cocaine and heroin worth £7 million was found stashed in a Dutch lorry carrying ice cream at the port of Dover. Coke with ice anyone?!
