Gevrey Chambertin is a 14/1 Chance
The Festival is here at last! It is however not all about Cheltenham today but also Southwell, Sedgefield and Wolverhampton. At Cheltenham it looks like it is Mullins versus England, Scotland and Wales! If you feel brave you can have a £1 accumulator on the Mullins trained 4 good things today - Douvan, Un De Sceaux, Faugheen and Annie Power and you will get back £19.27 with Betfair - that is if they all win! David has four runners today, Sail By the Sea, Gevrey Chambertin, Swing Bowler and Broadway Buffalo. The shortest priced of David's runners is Gevrey Chambertin at 14/1 and it looks a tough day for the stables runners. Traditionally the first day is not a strong day for the stable but we did win the Arkle last year with 33/1 chance Western Warhorse so maybe lightening can strike twice?!
Everyone I have seen recently have been talking about Cheltenham, the milkman, paper boy, taxi driver and even my butcher! It certainly grips everyone here in the west country. It will be good to see many old faces in our marquee today. Some have been coming for over 20 years and it is great to see them every year. JP McManus is 64 today - he could be in for a good day and lets hope AP has a winner or two during the week.
Also at Cheltenham today will be some old racing favourites and I am looking forward to seeing them as well. There is a good photo of Grands Crus in the Post in his new career as a show jumper. Our flying grey will be parading with many former stars and it is great to seeing them doing well in their new careers.
Many of you may not realise but a horse running in the first race today - Jollyallan - was bred by comedian Jethro. If he wins it will be no joke! Imagine the jokes with his broad Cornish accent.
The England One day cricket team must be the worst in history. Broad and Anderson seem to have lost the art of bowling. If this was a football team, the manager and his couching staff would be sacked and rightly so.
Arsenal won 2-1 at Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter final last night. Di Maris's sending off was just plain stupid, mind you it was correct. He was booked for diving and then getting hold of the ref. It certainly did not help his side her were behind at the time.
Two blondes walk into a building, you thought one of them would have seen it! Roll on 1.30pm and bring on the roar! Enjoy everyone, the wait is nearly over!
