The Package - Winner of the 2015 Kim Muir
It was another great day at the festival for the yard yesterday. All the horses ran well and The Package, at 12 years of age put up one of his best ever performances to win the Kim Muir by 12 lengths at 9/1. He jumped spectacularly and was never in any real danger and it was fantastic and emotional to see the Johnson colours back in the Cheltenham winners enclosure. I must say amateur JJ Codd looks a very good amateur and I think he would be a very good professional. He seems a very good talker and a nice person. Standing Ovation also ran well in the same race to finish sixth. Monetaire ran well to finish second yesterday, only beaten narrowly in the 2m5f handicap chase while Unique De Cotte was also only just beaten in the Pertemps. So far it has been a great few days for the yard with two winners and three seconds and we can look forward to the final day today.
Today we have seven runners, six at Cheltenham and one at Fakenham. At Cheltenham, we run Baraka De Thaix, Stars Over the Sea, Baltimore Rock, Vieux Lion Rouge, Balgarry and My Brother Sylvest. We also run Ainsi Fideles at Fakenham. Don't tell anyone but I think he is a good thing! He is 33/1 on in the Racing Post as it is only a two runner race and he should be giving the other runner 89 pounds but we are only conceding 3!
It was great to see AP have a winner at Cheltenham yesterday. He had a smile on his face and he is the greatest sportsman I will ever see. It was nice he got a winner at his final Festival in JP's colours.
In our marquee yesterday we had owner Chris Fleet. He has got the worst selection of jackets you have ever seen!! They are all broad stripes of different colours and he has got lots of them! Luckily he has got an attractive wife though one thing for sure is she cannot be colour blind! Former jump and flat jockey Johnny Williams popped into the marquee yesterday as did Peter Scudamore.
Joke for the day. Doc "I can't stop singing the green green grass of home". The doctors says "that sounds like Tom Jones syndrome" "Is it common doc?" "Well its not unusual!"
