This afternoon there are three meetings taking place with jumps cards from Southwell and Taunton as well as an all-weather flat fixture from Chelmsford City. It is a busy day for the yard with Multimedia, Flabello, Sir Frank Morgan, Perspicace, Vayland and Kalifourchon and Border Breaker all running at our local track. There look to be a few decent chances there including Border Breaker who won at the course last time out, although I am not certain whether this softer surface will help him - I guess we will find out. Vayland still appeared to be travelling well when coming to grief in a better contest than this at Newbury on his debut and despite disappointing subsequently, he too looks to hold sound claims.
We hit the crossbar a couple of times at the weekend with Bladoun, Top Wood and La Vaticane all performing creditably to finish runner-up, while Shotavodka and What A Moment both finished fourth. I was a little disappointed by the latter who had looked so good when landing a Towcester bumper on his only previous start for the stable. The form cannot be right and he is clearly better than he was able to show here. I thought that La Vaticane ran a particularly nice race on her first start for the stable in a decent race at Kempton and providing the handicapper doesn't crucify her she should be winning before long, while birthday boy Houston Dynimo also ran with plenty of credit and can prove competitive once again when eased slightly in grade.
Following the fantastic meeting at last week's Cheltenham Festival, I see that bookmakers have already priced up most of the big races for 2016. I am not keen on betting ante-post twelve months in advance - there is plenty that can go wrong during the course of a year so I would prefer to take a shorter price but know that you are going to get a run for your money

I had a few quid on Manchester United yesterday and they duly beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0. Wayne Rooney gave United the knock out blow with the third goal. Meanwhile Manchester City lost and Chelsea only drew and the pressure would appear to be getting to both of these top teams. It has certainly made the Premier League a little more interesting. With the money City have spent, if I were Pellegrini I would be putting my house up for sale as they have only taken 16 points from their last 33!
