There are just two jumps meetings taking place this afternoon and while the stable does not have any runners, it is a very different tale for our jockeys - it clearly is a case of 'have saddle, will travel' for them. Conor O'Farrell has four rides at Wincanton, while Tom Scudamore heads all the way to Market Rasen for just one ride, although I am not sure I would get too excited about it! The paper I read has a section called 'Job Jockeys' and they include A P McCoy who rides for Imagine The Chat for Rebecca Curtis - A P has ridden 96 winners from 318 rides for her...sound as though he is a pretty good job jockey to me!
Looking through the jump jockeys championship, Tom Scudamore was rejoined in second position by Richard Johnson on 134 winners on Friday afternoon, with Sam Twiston-Davies close behind on 126. Although the sport will be much the worse off without A Pl, just imagine how exciting the closing weeks of the season will be if the jockeys' title is this finely balanced between the remainder next year.
While we are on the subject of jockeys, a couple that have slipped under the radar are Kieron Edgar and Michael Heard - Kieron is having his best ever season with 15 winners from 101 rides and with Michael Heard among the winners, it would seem that David has a couple of very capable conditionals on his hands.

I have been watching that survival programme with Bear Grylls and it occurred to me that the real star of the show has to be the cameraman. Just think, you have Bear sat there in his canoe, but the poor cameraman has to follow him through the jungle, over mountains and down the rapids all the time while lugging a camera about, keeping everything in frame and in focus - he's the one with the hardest job!

Why would anybody in their right minds pay £44 million for Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao? He has been reduced to tears by his United hell...more like he has been crying all the way to the bank! He has scored just four goals during the course of his season on loan and if I were anything to do with the club I would be looking to send him back as soon as possible.
I did have a chuckle when I saw that one of the daily papers had a league table of referee blunders. Top of the league is Jon Moss with eight blunders, in fact he is three clear of his nearest pursuer, Martin Atkinson. What sort of tables will they come up with next. It looks like a day in front of the television to me with Liverpool taking on Manchester United!

Finally 28 firefighters had to attend a fire in Bournemouth when a tumble dryer caught fire in a hotel. It had quickly spun out of control before the firefighters had arrived on the scene! Another true story...
