We have a couple of blank days as far as jump racing is concerned with the next National Hunt action coming on Thursday with the first day of Aintree's Grand National meeting. Consequently, the three meetings taking place this afternoon are all on the level at Pontefract, Chelmsford and Lingfield. Typically though, the most prize money on offer today comes from Ireland over the sticks at Fairyhouse.
We didn't manage to register a winner yesterday although I thought that Skylander shaped with promise once again, looking the likeliest winner into the straight before weakening into fifth and there will certainly be other days for him, especially over a shorter trip.
It was a great day for Katie Walsh and Sandra Hughes yesterday though as they combined to win the Irish Grand National with 20/1 chance Thunder And Roses - let's hope that this is not an omen for the end of the week (unless Katie Walsh is riding a Pond House runner)! As it stands we have one runner in the Aintree Grand National with well-fancied Soll making the cut yesterday. We continue to wait on the participation of Cheltenham Festival winner The Package who is now fourth reserve at number 44 on the list, while Broadway Buffalo is number 45 with a maximum field of 40.

It looks as though the Premier League is Chelsea's to lose as all the other teams are trying to give it to them. Manchester City lost 2-1 at Crystal Palace yesterday and I don't think manager Pellegrini will be there next season. If you spend the sort of money they do, you have to win these matches. On the other hand, I bet that Newcastle wish they still had former manager Alan Pardew - what a job he has done with Crystal Palace who have now risen to eleventh in the league.
Tonight Aston Villa take on QPR and it is a big game for both teams. I will be a having a little interest on Villa at 23/20...you heard it here first!

I can't wait until Thursday! Not only is it the start of the Grand National meeting from Aintree, it is also the first day of the Masters Golf from Augusta. I once tried to walk the course when it was closed although you could not get anywhere near it as security was that tight! I would love to have taken a look at Amen corner - as a golfer does it get any better than that? I will be having a punt on Rose at 40/1, Casey at 70/1 and Day at 16/1.

When you lose weight, where does it go? Maybe it's thin air?! Have a nice day...
