There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon and jumps fans are in for a treat as they are both over the sticks at Wincanton and Stratford. The stable has runners at both meetings with Good Value and Lady Of Longstone (pictured above) participating at Wincanton and Western Diva representing us at Stratford. Tom Scu goes to Stratford and as well as Western Diva, he has picked up a couple of outside rides. Meanwhile conditional jockey Kieron Edgar rides for the yard at Wincanton. The ground will certainly be a bit quicker than it has been for a little while, so if you are going to have a bet make sure that your selection will handle this faster surface. Over in Ireland there is a good card on the flat from The Curragh and quite a few of the top flat jockeys have made their way across the Irish Sea to participate.
There is a meeting from Perth next week and if ever you are in the vicinity, I would strongly recommend it as a great place to visit. The staff at Perth always do their best to look after you and you can always be sure of a warm welcome. I remember going there many years ago and we had five winners from our six runners...perhaps that is why I like it so much?!

Former England cricket captain Michael Vaughan made some pertinent comments when he said "You don't judge a team against the West Indies these days". It wasn't so very long ago that everyone judged themselves against the Windies. Much as I have derided England over the past twelve months, we do have some promising youngsters in Ballance, Root, Buttler, Stokes and Ali, so it is not all doom and gloom!

I know the Floyd Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiano fight is going to be a belter, but the price tag of £45,000 for a ringside seat in Las Vegas is absolutely staggering. Four of my friends will be travelling and they will be forking out £10,000 each for their seats - at those prices, it sounds as if they will be sat on the floor! Fight fans even have to pay out to to attend the pre-fight weigh-in for the first time ever. Are the fans not already being extorted enough? At least the proceeds of that will be going to charity. My mate also comes into our Cheltenham Festival marquee - perhaps our tickets our too cheap? Don't panic, I am only joking!

I see that Newcastle boss John Carver says that managing the club has to be the hardest job in football. I would love to know what he gets paid because while it may not be an easy job, I bet he is fairly handsomely rewarded. Give him a job as a stable hand for a week and see if he alters his opinion!

Finally another useless bit of information...did you know that female ants doe all the work? True, but what is wrong with that I ask?! Have a nice weekend...
