There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Warwick and Kempton as well as flat cards from Windsor, Beverley and Bath. Tom Scudamore travels to Kempton where he rides Our Chief and My Brother Sylvest for the stable, while we are also represented by Good Value and Multimedia at Warwick. I will be interested to see how Our Chief gets on this afternoon - he has shown promise in his races when finishing fourth and this looks like an open race. Meanwhile Good Value has been disappointing since switching to hurdles but if he can recapture any of his decent flat form he should be capable of winning a race of this nature.
The stable's horses ran with credit for the most part at Punchestown over the weekend with Stars Over The Sea finishing fourth in the Champion Four Year Old Hurdle. He looks capable of winning a nice prize over hurdles.
Many happy returns to retired champion jockey AP McCoy who is 41 today. The champ tweeted "I wish I had a job because if I did I wouldn't have been up all night watching this crap, Mayweather v Pacquaio" - he sounds fed up already! We hope you have a better day today AP!
What a great weekend for Ryan Moore who won the 2,000 Guineas aboard Gleneagles on Saturday and then followed up with 1,000 Guineas success aboard Legatissimo yesterday. He became only the sixth jockey to complete the famous double since 1900 joining the likes of Lester Piggott, Sir Gordon Richards and Kieren Fallon.

It was a good weekend for the Barnes household as well as my sports bets came up at decent prices. I had the big fight to go the distance, while my football treble also came to fruition at decent odds. We can eat for another week - I hope a few of you were on as well!
Chelsea were the winners of the Premier League and you have to hand it to manager Jose Mourinho - he certainly knows how to organise a team. Meanwhile John Terry is still the best centre half in the country by a mile and still looks as keen as ever. On the other hand the Manchester United manager looks clueless. As far as I can tell Van Persie needs to go as soon as possible although he will want to stay as he is on a good contract with a year left to go.

What a dreadful third Test I have just witnessed between England and West Indies. England collapsed in the second innings, making only 123. They have to be one of the worst England cricket teams ever...closely followed by the West Indies. At least Rory McIlroy won the World Matchplay golf in America - that has cheered me up a bit!

Did you know that honey is sometimes used in the centre of golf balls? I guess that is the bit they call the sweet spot! Have a nice Bank Holiday Monday...
