There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon and they are both jumping fixtures with action from Ludlow and Plumpton.  The stable runs My Brother Sylvest in the 2m handicap chase at Ludlow and he will be partnered by Tom Scudamore.  Although he carries top weight of 11-12, he finished runner-up at Kempton on Monday and is due another hike in the weights for that.  This is a competitive race, as you would expect considering there is almost £13,000 on offer to the winner.  Meanwhile Conor O'Farrell travels to Plumpton for the mount aboard Pilgrim's Bay.  Pilgrim's Bay was a naughty boy last time at Ffos Las, looking the most likely winner of his bumper until twice downing tools in the straight and finishing a close third.  Hopefully Conor will convince him to behave today - he clearly has plenty of ability, let's hope that he uses it!

As far as I am concerned it doesn't get much better than this.  I will be sat watching the racing this afternoon and might just switch over for a bit of Premiership football action between Chelsea and Liverpool at 4pm.  I wonder if Chelsea will start to take their foot off the throttle a bit now with the Premier League in the bag?  These two teams wouldn't be the best of friends and it wouldn't surprise me if Liverpool managed to get a result with the Blues having nothing to play for.

I have been watching a bit of Formula One lately and some of Lewis Hamilton's outfits are getting increasingly out-landish.  He looks as though he has been getting dressed in the dark - it's a good job the team don't let him pick what he wants to wear in the races!  It is the Spanish Grand Prix this afternoon and it looks as though it is going to be another Mercedes benefit.  I would love to know how much prize money the drivers earn.  Do they earn prize money at all or do they just get paid those ridiculous contracts?  You see prize money stats for most other sports disciplines...does anybody know the answer to this one?

Following the election victory of David Cameron and the Conservative Party, I see that Gary Lineker has been taking the mickey.  He says, "If you get an overall majority does the PM get a new Jag?"  Nice one Gary!

Finally, you have to feel sorry for poor old Roy Sullivan of Virginia, USA.  He has been hit by lightning SEVEN times.  You could say that he is a bright spark!  Have a nice weekend...
