This afternoon there are five meetings taking place with jumping from Sedgefield, Wincanton and Southwell as well as flat fixtures from Beverley and Chelmsford City.  The stable runs Lough Derg Cruise in the bumper at Sedgefield and conditional jockey Michael Heard is in the saddle.  She has finished runner up in three Irish point-to-point's and Michael claims a handy 7lbs off our mare's back.  Meanwhile stable jockey Tom Scudamore is at Wincanton where he rides All Force Majeure (pictured above) for the Pond House team.  Our bumper winner steps up in trip this afternoon which should suit him well - he carries top weight in this tight little handicap.  Tom then races off to Southwell for one ride - it is all go for the main protagonists having a crack at the jockeys championship as they search the length and breadth of the country for winners.

I thought that Susie Sheep ran another solid race last night at Towcester as she finished a creditable second in the mares's maiden hurdle.  She probably bumped into a real gem in Nicky Henderson's What A Jewell!  Susie's turn doesn't look too far away.

Well done to Timmy Murphy who managed to get off the mark since taking out his flat licence with success aboard Houdini for Jamie Osborne at Wolverhampton.  You could say it was a close escape!  Anyway, as you would expect Timmy looked tidy in the finish - maybe Jamie Osborne will start thinking about coming back on the flat as well?

Many happy returns to owner Roger Brookhouse who celebrates his birthday today.  Roger certainly has some nice horses to look forward to in the season ahead.

Why doesn't the new England cricket boss Andrew Strauss come out and say the true reason why Kevin Pietersen will not play for his country again?  I reckon the current national side is one of the worst teams for a long time and Pietersen would get into most England teams during that period.  I see he scored 326 yesterday...all I would like to know is the truth behind his departure.

What a finish to the Players Championship golf with Richie Fowler completing the last four holes in five under par.  I don't think his shot at the island hole in the play-off will ever be beaten.  A great spectacle...as was his girlfriend - she looks a real birdie!

I said back along that I thought that Arsenal were going to be serious challengers for the Premier League next season although a 1-0 loss at home to Swansea yesterday has me slightly concerned.  I guess it just shows what the Premiership is like at the moment - extremely open.

Did you know that the Inuit (Eskimos) use fridges to stop their food from freezing?  I wonder if they shop at Iceland?  Have a nice day...
