The stable had a nice winner yesterday when Vieux Lion Rouge won on his chasing debut at Towcester.  He stayed on nicely to win by three lengths and can only improve with this experience under his belt.  The runner-up Simply The West looks like an interesting one for next time as he did not have a straight forward passage when his tack became tangled after an early error.  He looks like a winner waiting to happen to me.

Today we have five meetings taking place with four flat fixtures from Newcastle, Nottingham, Chepstow and Chelmsford City as well as a local jumps card from Newton Abbot.  If you are thinking of going to Newton Abbot the forecasters say that we are going to get a lot of rain so make sure you dress accordingly (and take an umbrella).  The going is already good/soft with the prospect of it getting a lot more testing yet.  Tom Scu and Conor O'Farrell both have rides at the meeting.

David reports that his Prix la Barka winner Ballynagour has arrived back at the stables safely and is an intended runner in the French Champion Hurdle on 7th June.  He will be joined by Un Temps Pour Tout who ran a blinder when a close third at Aintree last time.  The pair of them could be taking on the likes of Annie Power and Hurricane Fly from the Willie Mullins stable.

I see that it is owner Peter Deal's 76th birthday today.  Peter has had some cracking good horses at Pond House down the years including Champion Hurdler Make A Stand and dual Cheltenham Festival winner Blowing Wind.  Peter also has a lovely wife - I guess that is why he always looks so young!  Many happy returns Peter.

I must congratulate Will Biddick on his fantastic five-timer at Bratton Down on Sunday taking him to an amazing 61 winners for the pointing season, beating Oliver Greenall's old record of 56 from 2008.  With a month of the season still remaining he could improve that tally substantially yet.  He is like the A P McCoy of the point-to-point world.

Onto football and I see that Raheem Sterling wants to leave Liverpool - he obviously wants to win some trophies!  It is strange how year on year Liverpool seem to let their best players go - last year it was Suarez.  If he had been with the club this season I am sure they would have been challenging for the title once again.  Meanwhile there was a good 3-0 win for West Brom over Chelsea last night and to round the evening off for the Blues, Cesc Fabregas was sent off.

It will be good to see world number one golfer Rory McIlroy at Wentworth on Thursday for the start of his BMW Title defense.  Surely he can't play as well as he did at Quail Hollow last week?  Or can he?!

Finally, did you know that the average person spends three years of their life on the toilet?  Sounds like consitpation to me!  Have a nice day...
