Have you missed me? What do you mean "Have I been away?!" We arrived back home on Saturday night after a great time in Ile de Re where we celebrated Martin's 70th birthday. The beaches nearby are fantastic with miles of golden sand, meanwhile there was also a Carousel nearby which Martin went on with David's children Jack and Sophie...he seemed to enjoy it more than the kids! Everybody on the island seemed to be riding bicycles including David, although he looked a bit stiff by the second day! There was a very good article in the Racing Post yesterday about Richard Hannon and MCP - the piece by Alistair Down started off in the early days and brought you right up until the pair retired and there sons took over.
There are four meetings taking place this afternoon, all of them on the flat from Leicester, Lingfield, Windsor and Carlisle. There is no jumping today or tomorrow so it looks like being a quiet start to the week for the stable.
Northern based jockey Brian Hughes has enjoyed a flying start to the season. He has already had 14 winners this season from just 73 rides - even so, he still trails Richard Johnson by ten winners. Johnson has had 109 rides and seems to be getting mounts for lots of different trainers...can you tell that I have had a few quid on him?!

Aresenal were easy winners of the FA Cup final at the weekend as they were different class to Aston Villa. Mind you Jack Wilshere put his foot in it yet again, having a go at the Tottenham team...he is just a 23 year old yob.

New Zealand are 338 runs in front of England in the Test match. The will have to get some quick wickets this morning or else they could lose. As I said, even after winning the first match, they will need to improve significantly if they are to have any chance in the Ashes series against the Australians.

British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua could be our next world champion. He needed just four minutes to beat Kevin Johnson - the first man to stop him. He looks a class athlete.

Finally, did you know that Humphrey Bogart was once related to Princess Diana? They were seventh cousins...play it again Diana?
