There is a busy day of action ahead with five meetings taking place this afternoon including three flat meetings at Newbury, Nottingham and Haydock as well as a couple of jumps fixtures from Worcester and Uttoxeter. The stable has three runners today at Worcester; Epic Warrior, Street Entertainer and Prince Of Poets and they are all partnered by stable jockey Tom Scudamore. Epic Warrior is having his first start for the yard since winning an Irish point-to-point in good style - he runs in the bumper at 3.15pm and while the ground will be quicker than it was in Ireland, a big run is expected. Street Entertainer (pictured above) keeps running well and is consequently on a handicap mark of 129 in the competitive 2m4f handicap hurdle - he should go well once again, while bumper winner Prince Of Poets makes his hurdling debut this afternoon and he looks like a promising individual.
I would like to wish Grand National winning owner Trevor Hemmings a very happy birthday. I knew Trevor from when owned Pontins and I used to work for him doing ping pong exhibitions. I used to play him from time to time and I can quite honestly say that he was a lot better at making money than he was at playing table tennis! Many happy returns Trevor, we hope you have a great day.

It is the start of the Copa America football tournament and the bookies make Argentina their 2/1 favourites for victory. If Lionel Messi plays anywhere near as well for his national side as he does for Barcelona, they must have an outstanding chance. I might also have a few quid on host nation Chile at 1/2 to beat Ecuador - the match is on Premier Sports at 12.30am so it looks like it is going to be a late night for me!
If you have a look at former England manager and newly appointed Newcastle United boos Steve McClaren's record on paper it doesn't make very nice reading. He has been sacked from three of his last five jobs and quit the other two before he was fired. I don't think the fans at Newcastle are going to be too happy with his appointment if my mates reaction is anything to go by. I reckon he is a sure thing to be out the door before his three year contract expires.

Did you know that women swallow and digest the majority of the lipstick they apply? I wonder if it has anything to do with talking too much? I had better stop there...Mrs Barnes has just walked in!
