Even if you are not a Blackburn Rovers supporter, I am sure that it would have still come as a shock that manager Sam Allardyce was given the sack yesterday. Sam has done a fantastic job at Blackburn, the problem is that many of these football clubs are now owned by people that don't have any idea about the game. Clubs such as Blackburn do well to remain in the Premiership. The new owners say that they are going to spend £5 million in the January transfer window - I don't mean to be flippant, but what does £5 million buy you in football these days?...a pair of Tevez's shin pads?!
I would love to see my club West Ham in Blackburn's position in the league, furthermore, I would love to see Sam Allardyce in charge of the Hammers - the players would certainly know what he was about. There is no smoke without fire and someone clearly knew that something was going on as Allardyce's odds shortened markedly in the managers to go market prior to his departure - Chandler's shortened him from 40/1 in the morning to evens!

Despite a hard frost in the West country, I am happy to report that things do not seem so bad in the East as Folkestone seems likely to go ahead with their fixture this afternoon. No problems are reported at this stage and we are due to have three runners at the course. Hopefully another cold snap will not be enough to spoil the racing coming up this week.

I see that steps have been taken to reschedule the Peterborough Chase for a second time after racing from Huntingdon was abandoned on Friday and Sunday. The race will now be run at Newbury on Wednesday as part of an eight race card - it would have been a valuable race to lose from the calendar, so let's hope that it does get the go-ahead and that this time it is a case of third time lucky!
