The stable was among the winners on the flat last night at Windsor as Beijing Star won the claimer in the hands of Mikey Ennis who is looking like very good value for his 5lbs claim. Our three year old travelled well for much of the race and stayed on well to win by 1/2 length. After the race he was claimed for £10,000 but that is the chance that you takes when you run your horses in this grade. Over at Worcester Dusk Till Dawn still showed signs of inexperience as he finished second in the bumper - he is a lovely big horse who is already a winner in Irish point-to-points and he already looks a chaser in the making. The experience should do him the world of good and I am sure he will be winning before long judged on this evidence.
Today we have four meetings to look forward to with flat cards from Pontefract, Wolverhampton and Brighton as well as a National Hunt card from Uttoxeter. The stable has one runner at Uttoxeter this evening as Bella takes in the mares' handicap hurdle - she will be ridden by Tom Scudamore. You may remember that she won a valuable mares' race at Warwick earlier in the year (form that has worked out quite well since) and although disappointing last time out, this longer trip should be in her favour and she is not without a chance.

We had another good day at Wimbledon and I hope that a few of you followed me in and had a few quid on Karlovic to take a set from Andy Murray at 11/8. Murray is looking in good form and dispatched the Croatian without too many problems. Karlovic has a massive serve, but every time Murray managed to get a return in, he won the point. Meanwhile world number one Novak Djokovic looked to be in trouble at two sets down although he managed to pull back to 2-2 by the close of play last night. He resumes this morning and will need to start fast against big serving Kevin Anderson.
In the women's tournament I see that Paddy Power are offering 10/11 about Serena Williams to lift the trophy and that will give me a bit of interest in the final. Why do women (especially Maria Sharapova) make so much noise when they play? It's a good job she is easy on the eye, otherwise she would be downright annoying!
There were plenty of birds at Wimbledon yesterday...in the junior singles there was a Swann and a Duck. No, I didn't just pluck them out of the air, those are the names of two of the juniors!

I see that Rory McIlroy has ruptured an ankle ligament playing football and is out of the Scottish Open while he also looks like to miss our Open Championship. He is not a footballer (and as a Manchester United supporter he's not much of a fan either!) - doctors say it will be between 6 weeks and 3 months before he can play again.

Did you know that you are more likely to killed by a champagne cork than you are by a venomous spider? I must remember to keep my distance from Martin! Have a nice day...
