Runners At Two Meetings

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Lingfield, Catterick and Sandown as well as a couple of most welcome jumps fixtures from Uttoxeter and Worcester.  Stable jockey Tom Scudamore is at Uttoxeter for the ride aboard Susie Sheep in the last.  Our mare ran a good second on this track last time in her first start over fences, looking all over the winner for much of the contest - she went up 6lbs for getting beaten which seems a bit harsh to me but with that experience under her belt she should go well once again.  Over at the other meeting Michael Heard partners Street Entertainer (pictured above) who has been in good form this season.  Michael takes a handy 7lbs off his back and he too should give a good account.

I cannot believe that no-one has stepped forward to buy the unraced three year old Carqalin yet.  David picked up this handsome son of Martaline at the Arqana sales recently and I saw our grey gelding working on the gallops yesterday.  David liked the look of him during his breeze-up at the sales and if yesterday is anything to go by I can see why.  The other good thing is that as he is unraced, if you do not like his name you can call him something different.  Get on the phone and arrange a viewing!

While I was down there I also took a picture of recent arrival Art Of War (who was a talented performer on the level) in action alongside A Hairy Koala - I was doing my David Bailey bit!  Anyway, I hope you like the photographs...

I see that Raheem Sterling is 10/11 with Betfred to score more goals than team-mate Yaya Toure - I will be having a bit of that today.  The only trouble is that you have to wait so long for your winnings.

Former England boss Fabio Capello has been sacked as the Russian manager.  Don't feel too sorry for him though, he did receive a handy £10.7 million pay-off.  Furthermore he will get a new job that pays a fortune in the next couple of months.  It must be the only business where you can be a total failure yet still make a fortune and get another job!

Four times world champion boxer Carl Froch has decided to hang up his gloves.  You always new that any of his fights would be real battles and he never ducked any challenges.  A great champion who never really got the credit that he deserved - let's hope that in two years' time he doesn't decide to make a comeback.
