I'm afraid it's another blank day for fans of the jumping game with no fewer than five flat meetings taking place from Catterick, Bath, Lingfield, Sandown and Leicester.  Once again Lingfield need to be named and shamed for their £29,000 prize money across their seven race card...pretty poor when you consider that the Arab meeting on Sunday carries £158,000 in prize money.  Furthermore, admission is free and gates open at midday - well done Sheikh Hamdan!

How can a jockey try to get on a train to Kings Cross but instead end up on the one to Kings Lynn in Norfolk?  I won't tell you his name, although his surname is a bit like leading High Street retailer M&S!

I know that David Evans is a good trainer, but how on earth do you get a two year old who finished last on his previous start at Salisbury to win next his next start at 50/1 at Ffos Las.  By the way, the owner was Dai Walters who is chairman of the course at Ffos Las...it' s a funny old world!

I was on the gallops the other day doing my best David Bailey impression and I reckon he would have been proper impressed by my work!  While I was there I managed to capture useful staying chaser Standing Ovation working in company with For 'N' Against - the pair of them going nicely under Ashley Farrant and Vicky Edwards respectively.  Both Standing Ovation and For 'N' Against are entered in the same staying handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter on Sunday.

I was watching England beat the Aussies at cricket yesterday...of course I am talking about the Ladies' Ashes series that was taking place at Taunton.  One of our fast bowlers has got a couple of nice bouncers!  Perhaps we should let the women play instead of the men?  They certainly couldn't perform any worse that the men did in the second Test.  I cannot believe that the only change the selectors have made is to leave out Gary Ballance.  Surely Ian Bell must be pals with some pretty important people as he certainly isn't the player he was a couple of seasons ago.

The British Senior Open starts tomorrow at 7.00am at Suningdale.  Brit Colin Montgomorie looks to be playing well and will know the course better than most.  He looks worth an interest at odds of around 6/1, while I will also be having a little interest bet on O'Meara at 50/1 and Lane at 125/1.

I was listening to heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury and he was giving some stick to Vladimir Klitscko - let's hope that he can back up his words in the ring.  I don't think there has been a good heavyweight around for a good few years - not that I would tell them that!

Apparently a lottery security officer named Eddie Tipton is facing jail after rigging the draw and winning £9million in Iowa, USA.  Police said that his number was up!
