Today we have five meetings taking place with flat cards from Sandown, Wolverhampton, Newbury and Doncaster as well as a jumps fixture at Worcester.  The stable has two runners at Worcester; Lady Of Longstone and Flabello contest the two divisions of the amateur riders' handicap hurdle and they are both partnered by young David Noonan.  David is very capable and will take a handy 5lbs off their backs which is good news as they were both saddled with top weight of 11-12.  Despite that burden I still think that Lady Of Longstone (pictured above) will run a big race.  Our five year old mare has been in great form of late winning and finishing second a couple of times.  She bumped into a rapid improver when runner-up last time but still ran well to come well clear of the remainder and would be unlucky to find another rival like that.  Flabello also has top weight despite not finishing in the frame in six starts - obviously the handicapper has seen something that I have missed!

Also on the card John Ferguson runs Ennistown in the 3.15pm who won last time out by twelve lengths.  Mind you, he was rated 101 on the flat so he really should win again under a penalty, especially when you consider that the main danger Black Iceman was rated 49 on the level!  If you want to back one at odds-on, Ennistown looks to be the one.

I see that despite going to the effort of re-waxing their all-weather surface, Chelmsford City have come in for some stick from some of the leading jockeys.  William Buick says that it needs ripping up, while Richard Hughes and Adam Kirby were also unhappy with the surface.  Even so, managing director Phil Siers said that he was "quite happy with what we got for £300,000".  I wonder how many times Mr Siers has ridden around the track?  There would clearly seem to be a problem.

Liverpool football manager Brendan Rogers must be on a sticky wicket.  He has signed seven new players and his last one Christian Benteke cost £32.5 million.  He has spent £88 million this season so far and £200 million in his first two seasons at Anfield yet they haven't won so much as a carrot!  I think the signing of Mario Balotelli was probably the worst signing ever.  Liverpool start off with seven tricky matches next season and they could decide Rogers' future with the club.

Apparently a man needed stitches after a stranger hit him with a tin of pet food in Hadfield, Derbyshire.  It must have been a can of Pedigree Thump! Have a nice day...
