The stable enjoyed a nice winner yesterday when Weather Babe made a winning chase debut at Uttoxeter. There can't have been many more appropriate winners yesterday - it never stopped raining at Pond House, indeed we had 37ml of rain in just 24 hours!  Wayne and Sarah Clifford's home bred mare was a decent hurdler and she jumped well in the main and looks like she could be even better over the larger obstacles. She receives a handy mares' allowance and is very much one to keep on the right side of in the coming months. Meanwhile Perspicace ran a sound race when a close fourth in the handicap hurdle and A Hairy Koala was far from disgraced in sixth - they should both be capable of winning races before too long.

Once again if you are a fan of the jumps you are out of luck. There are no fewer than six meetings taking place this afternoon and each one of them is on the level. You would have thought race planning could have levered a National Hunt fixture in there somewhere. Today's action comes from Ascot, York, Newmarket, Newcastle, Salisbury and Lingfield. Once again Lingfield bring up the rear with just £30,000 in prize money on offer across their seven race card. The big race of the day is undoubtedly the Group 1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes. Facile Derby and Eclipse winner Golden Horn is odds-on favourite although he is far from certain to appreciate the heavy rain we had yesterday. Ladbrokes go as long as even money...do they know something?!

I hope some of you followed me in and had a few quid on both Real Madrid and Manchester City to score in their football match in Australia yesterday morning. The bet had come to fruition before the end of the first half, although in fairness I thought that City looked terrible as they were demolished 4-1. Their defense looked very open and while they will undoubtedly score a few goals when the Premier League commences, they are going to concede their fair share as well. I am told that City have a fourteen year old called Taylor Roberts who is going to be very good indeed...remember, you heard it here first!

I was watching some of the darts of television yesterday and I spent half an hour just trying to adjust the colour as Peter Wright was on the oche! Then I realised that it was the darts player that needed adjusting...I wonder how long it takes him to do his hair? He said he was supposed to be a seagull - to be honest, I have never seen a blue and white seagull. My next football bet will be in the Emirates Cup when I will be having an interest on Wolfsburg who were runners-up in the Bundesliga and won the German Cup. You can get 6/5 with Corals and that looks like a decent wager to me.

Don't forget that you can still bid to spend an afternoon in the company of David and 20 times champion jockey A P McCoy. There is a round of golf for two at Oake Manor golf course up for grabs to the highest bidder. It is in a good cause as proceeds go to injured point-to-point rider Ed Barrett. Both A P and David are inclined to spray the ball about, but don't worry - we will have a ball spotter. You can also come to Pond House and I would be pleased to show you around the famous yard and watch the horses in action on the gallops. This is an extremely rare opportunity, so please make your bids by phoning the office on 01884 840715 or e-mailing us at This email address is being protected from spambots. Finally, did you know that blood donors get free tickets to a music festival in Dracula's home region of Transylvania? They must be big fangs of music! Have a nice weekend...
