There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Pontefract and Carlisle as well as a jumps fixture from Uttoxeter.  The stable has two runners at Uttoxeter; Houston Dynimo and Standing Ovation.  Houston Dynimo (pictured above) finished third at Ffos Las last time out when only beaten 2 1/2 lengths on good/firm ground - he is a consistent individual and he should run his race once again although he looks as though he could do with dropping a couple of pounds in the weights.  Useful chaser Standing Ovation reverts to the smaller obstacles in the 2m7f handicap hurdle.  Tom Scudamore rides them both.

I'm not sure that the program for three year old hurdlers in this country is really working.  There are only five runners in today's juvenile hurdler - the problem is that the three year old races used to start later in the season.  As far as I can tell, we definitely need to revert to the old method...another problem solved!

I see that four times World Hurdle winner Big Buck's will be parading in Jersey today before the Jersey Derby at the Les Landes track.  If you have ever been there before, you will know that the track is on the sharp side!

You have to feel sorry for the Moore family at the moment.  Joshua hasn't returned since taking a spill from Sire de Grugy, Ryan has just been confirmed as out for the remainder of the season and now Jamie has broken his hip in a fall at Worcester on Thursday.  I bet the local shop is making a fortune in get well cards.  Let's hope the three brothers are soon on the mend.

It's the Hungarian Grand Prix live on BBC1 from 1pm this afternoon, so as you have probably worked out by now, I will not be watching!  Lewis Hamilton is a 2/5 chance - he has the quickest car so, so long as he doesn't break down he should win.  Such is the dominance of the Mercedes team I think he could break down, wait a couple of hours for the AA's 'very nice man' to turn up and still win!  Team-mate Nico Rosberg is second best at 11/4 and then it is 20/1 bar the pair...how boring!

What goes tick, tick, tick, woof?  A watchdog!

What's the difference between an African elephant and an Indian Elephant?  About 3,700 miles!  I must get a new joke book - keep smiling...
