The snow has really hit the West of England overnight! Where I live in Brixham some of the roads are impassable for the first time in thirty years. I have never seen it so bad down here and even the all weather meetings are struggling to be on at the moment. To keep you informed of today's action, there is no Jumps racing and while Southwell goes ahead they are looking again at Lingfield later on to see if they can race. They are raceable at present but are checking again due to the weather they are forecast for this morning and they have already delayed the start time of the first race by 10 minutes.
At Pond House we had a covering of snow yesterday as you can see from the picture on the gallops below, but we have woken this morning to 7-8 inches of the white stuff! Most of the staff have made it into work this morning despite the difficult road conditions and so work continues as normal in the yard although the snow does make everything twice as hard a work! We have a snowblower going clearing paths and although we are due further snow this morning we currently have a blue sky and a temperature reading of -4.5c. We will try and get some pictures later on and update you on our weather!
It is the BBC Sports Personality of the Year tomorrow night so please make sure you tune in at 7pm and vote for the Champ, A P McCoy. No person in racing has ever won this prestigious award so it would be fantastic for AP to win it for him and racing. His achievements speak for themselves and although well known in the racing circles it would be fantastic for him to be recognised in the wider Sporting world. Surely there would not be a more deserving winner. Good luck AP, you deserve to win and I shall be voting!
