Winner - For N Against
Today we just have five flat cards at Newbury, Nottingham, Newcastle and Newmarket and Catterick. If they have had the overnight rain that we have had here in the west country be warned of any going changes! It has been pouring down all night, 14mm so far and very heavy rain at 7.30am. It was great to get a winner at Fontwell yesterday courtesy of For N Against who won by 25 lengths at 3/1. It was his first run since March and he already went up nine pounds for finishing second last time so it was a good performance although I do hope the handicapper realizes it was a bad race. Who am I trying to kid! He is entered at Market Rasen tomorrow and Worcester next week so he could take up one of these engagements with a 6 pound penalty. Perspicace ran okay and finished fifth. Unfortunately I just think he is slightly too high on a rating of 120 so hopefully he will drop a few pounds
One of our old jockey's, Andrew Glassonbury rode a winner at Fontwell yesterday. He has been in and out of racing for the last few years but now work at Gary Moore's yard. He has always been a very good rider, remember he won on Gaspara at the Cheltenham Festival for Pond House.
I see that Gigginstown are selling 25 horses at Doncaster sales shortly. MCP and myself went over to Ireland recently and saw their set up and were shown around by Eddie O'Leary. What a great set up it is and Eddie really looked after us. David bought one of their horses a few years ago, His Excellency in 2012 and what a good buy he turned out to be at £30,000.
The sooner Tiger Woods packs up golf the better. He is never going to be the golfer he used to be. He is already nine shots behind the leaders and his swaring was picked up on the microphones. It is a shame but former great players should know when to call it a day.
There is a good football match on this evening at 7.45pm, Aston Villa versus Manchester United. Villa are 5/1 which I don't think is a big price. I don't think United were that good in their win over Spurs and their De Gea does not play. He was the best United defender last season.
A mum stole a zoo's baboon as a birthday gift for her baby son in Skopje, Macedonia. It was an apey birthday! Have a good day.
