There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from York, Carlisle, Ffos Las and Kempton and a jumps fixture from Worcester.  David has two runners at Worcester, Lilbourne Legacy and last week's Fontwell scorer For 'N' Against.  For 'N' Against was an easy 25 length winner although the handicapper has reacted by putting him up by a whopping 16lbs in future handicaps.  He is turned out again under a 7lbs penalty meaning that he is officially 9lbs 'well-in' here - I guess we will find out if the assessor was right, this does look to be a better race than the one he won, although he still looks to have outstanding claims.  Our other runner, Lilbourne Legacy is making his debut for the stable this afternoon having finished placed in a couple of Irish points.  He wasn't beaten at all far at Punchestown last time on yielding ground - my biggest concern would be this faster surface.  Tom Scudamore is aboard both of our runners.

Let's hope that there is a drying day at York this afternoon as 5mm of rain overnight turned the ground from good/firm (good in places) to good to soft leaving the eagerly anticipated clash between Golden Horn and Gleneagles in doubt.  I can't believe that such a little amount of rain could have altered the going so dramatically.  Hopefully the sun will shine today and Gleneagles will turn up...

Commentator John Hunt came out with a great call yesterday afternoon at Kempton when he said "What a win for Outer Space, who came from another planet!"  I wonder where he gets them from?  Maybe I could apply to be his script-writer?!

Manchester United moved a step closer to the group stages of the Champions' League when beating Club Brugge 3-1 last night.  Mind you, Brugge did have a player sent off.  I certainly don't think that you can compare Brugge with Manchester City, although this result will certainly keep my old mate Tony happy!

Adam Lallana says that Liverpool will beat Arsenal...I wonder who he has been watching?  The Liverpool team that I saw scrape past Bournemouth over the weekend will certainly not beat the Gooners.  Sometimes I think that these footballers are completely deluded and don't live in the real world!

I see that the cycling authorities would appear to have caught another drugs cheat as Katusha rider Giampaolo Caruso has tested positive for EPO.  They will test a second sample before any punishment is confirmed, although if he is a drugs cheat I think he should be banned for life.  Perhaps Caruso would be better as a singer?!  You older readers will know what I am talking about.

Did you know that Davey Crockett had three ears?  A right ear, a left ear and a wild front-ear!  You know where I am when you need some new material John Hunt!
